About the Trust How to Apply Previous Grants Board Members Staff and Contact

To inquire about the possibility of grant support, a brief written description of the proposed project should be sent to the Trust at least three months prior to the deadline for submitting the final proposal (see DEADLINES below). The initial inquiry should include a project summary, the names of the project's primary institutional partners, the amount being sought from TMU, and a schedule for project implementation. (How to Contact Us)

If, after the initial inquiry is received, an activity is determined to be eligible for formal consideration, an application form and checklist for the final proposal will be sent to a designated representative of the American organization applying for the grant. You may also download an electronic version of the application form and checklist (see APPLICATION FORM below) using a password which will be provided by the Trust. While the initial inquiry may be made by an individual or institution in any of the countries in which TMU is active, the final proposal must be submitted by an American nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, as the Trust does not make grants directly to institutions or individuals abroad. Please note that the Trust does not fund projects on a retroactive basis or provide reimbursement for expenses already incurred. All project activities for which Trust support is sought should therefore be those scheduled to occur only after the Board meeting at which the final proposal is reviewed. Any supporting materials submitted in connection with the final proposal must be received by TMU no later than the applicable deadline (see DEADLINES below).

The Trust's Board meets to review final proposals twice a year. Board review meetings are typically held four months after the deadlines for receiving final proposals, which are:

February 1st for Board review on or about June 1
August 1st for Board review on or about December 1

Applicants are notified of the status of their requests directly after the meeting at which their proposals are reviewed.

A password will be provided for downloading the application form once the initial inquiry (see INITIAL INQUIRY above) has been submitted and reviewed by the Trust. Download
